Pierre tendre is born from the fascination for stone craft, a gesture that is both millenary and non intuitive. To break the stone, to fragment monoliths in pieces, to embrace the mass and the immutable : this first audacity seems so unobvious and yet so primary.
Pierre tendre is an hommage to the gesture of the stone cutting, reversing its impulse : it tends to build back the rock, its unity, in a kind of elementary stereotomy applied to the element itself. The quarry leftovers becomes volumes to read and combine. Without an original link, the rough surfaces are pursuing each other through a line, a form, a balance; simple rocks becoming keystones of a new monolith.
Astragale lamp is an hommage to one of the key principles of stone craft : balance. The weight of the socle gives to the shape a possible height without affecting its stability in a precise search of proportions. It is therefore the mass of the material that gives birth to the shape.
